Gift Certificates-Purchased and Redeemed

The money received for a gift certificate is applied toward credit and is not initially counted toward any product line.
When the gift certificate is used to purchase a product, Success Tracking shifts the amount from "Other Income" to the product line of the purchase.
In addition, no sales tax is charged for gift certificate sales since the client is essentially buying credit toward a future purchase. Sales tax will be charged when the gift certificate is redeemed.
The following steps show you how to enter a gift certificate in a new order.
Entering a Gift Certificate Sale:
Since orders require a client, you must add the purchaser in as a Client before entering their order.
In the Add or Modify Order window leave the "From Session" field "None."
On the Ordered Items tab choose Gift Certificate from the Product Line field and enter the amount of the certificate into the Price field.
Click the Done button.
The gift certificate will appear in the list of ordered items.
Click the Payments tab and enter any payments made toward the gift certificate.
Redeeming Gift Certificates:
Click the Payments Tab.
Enter date and the payer.
Select the preexisting payment method Gift Cert.
The amount is the amount of the certificate.
Add all other payments toward the order in the normal manner.
